Received the news earlier today...
https://bluegrasstoday.com/roland-white-passes/(for those who don't recognize the name, he was one of Clarence White's brothers)
I'm trying to remember what year exactly it was Roland came to the Roanoke Bluegrass Weekend, sponsored by AcuTab and the Bluegrass Blog, and taught one of the workshops, but it was close to 20 years ago. 02, maybe '03. Weird that I can't pin it down. Anyway, he was a very kindhearted man, and during one afternoon outdoor jam, he sat in and taught us firsthand the correct way to play Bill Monroe's hit,
"In The Pines". (having played in Bill's Bluegrass Boys for a time...) Anyway, that's the meaning of the inscription on my (late) buddy Curt's dobro, just above his autograph.
