🗓

12 years ago today, my first Alembic arrived at a FedEx terminal near my office... didn't take long to figure out I needed a fretless one.

The Persuader Showcase is a lonely place. 😔

Nova C's thread about his first gig with an Alembic made me try to find this picture. It didn't even have its Alembic electronics restored yet, but I couldn't wait to play it. I realized the other day, that even though the build card has never been found, the 'birthday' for 89P-5559 is likely to be around late-August or early-September.

This was in June of 2014, right after I got it, and realized I'd been had. Can y'all believe I paid $1500 for this bass?! 🤣

You have to love it when a market turns you into a dinosaur like that.

You did very good, even if it would have been a husk without any pickups and electronics. :-)

Yeah, looking back now - Spoiler and Persuader 5-strings were fetching a little bit more, but you kinda' didn't expect to buy a whole set of electronics after the sale either. I just didn't know any better, and until you sent me here, I might never have. 😉

I've had it plenty long enough to not be underwater anymore, but it'd be awfully hard to part with now too.
