Last week I went to Denver, Colorado. I had meetings and continuing education seminars with my national association of BCA Buddhist ministers, and rather than fly, my wife and I drove rather than fly. One part of the event was a trip to Red Rocks - originally, we were going to do our closing service there, but Tori Amos was playing that night so we just went to check it out. Here's the selfie I took:

 

They also had a kind of museum with a music section - this caught my eye:

 

It's bigger than a Classico!  And I would say it is definitely Alembic inspired. Finally, this also caught my eye:

 

I didn't realize the Grateful Dead played at Red Rocks - I didn't get into them until around 1987 while I was still in high school in Tokyo - once I moved to Massachusetts in 1988 for college I only saw them 3 times - I did not have a huge collection of Dead tapes, I was more into Phish, Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit, and Widespread Panic at the time, but I got much more into the Dead after Jerry passed away. This is all to say that I didn't recall that they played there, but a quick google search shows that I have a CD from there lol - I guess if I remembered, then I wasn't there, or something like that!

so i'm a native of the mile high.  they shut it down for live (rock) music in the 70's after jethro tull caused a riot there, i believe.   i graduated high school in '74 and that was kinda the golden years for going up to red rocks after the sun went down for drinkin and carousing up and down the ampitheatre and rocks on either side.  i know a few people fell off the top of shiprock that year (left side, facing the stage) and got killt.  there's a cave about half-way up on that side.  great place for partying.  and slipping on the bird/bat poo and falling to your death.  i saw buck owens and the buckaroos from that cave one night..  playing to a 1/4 crowd.  back in those days, you could tote an acoustic guit@r on the stage, sit in the middle and be heard all the way to the top row of seats.  awesome natural acoustics!

I saw them there a bunch of times starting in 78. I've seen a bunch of other artists there too (B52s were great!). Great place to see a show 😊🎶🎶🎶

I was aware you were in Denver, but didn't know you were from there! My earliest memory of Red Rocks is watching the video of U2 playing there (probably saw it around 1985 when I was in high school). I should have paid more attention in the museum! Jethro Tull is not the first band I would think of for a riot to happen, I did read a story about it.

Maybe I'll see a show there someday!
