Really nice one. Too bad it's a 5-string (for me). If I was looking for a 5 string (with small spacing) I wouldn't hesitate.

Repair seems solid and well done optically. You could make him an offer. For that price you won't get closer to a JJ as said by the others.

The control cavity shows a Mexican volume pot that cannot be original in my opinion
. This and the repaired point make that will have to pass.

Yea just wait a while it will show up, I got these two for now, Anniversary 5 and Series 1
The bass player's function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car... everything else is merely colours.

Very nice one that series 1! is it medium scale? That is my favorite Alembic model. The medium scale 4-string series 1 Omega. That and the short scale small body series 1.

Don't let the Mexico stamp put you off, that's a top-of-the-line Allen & Bradley pot.  And for the record, one of my omega "lobes" was broken and repaired on my live bass some years ago so that makes this one an even more authentic JJ model.  ;)

I remember that bass from a sale thread here quite a while back. I'm pretty sure those are Signature electronics rather than Anniversary, which if I'm looking at the picture correctly makes the Allen-Bradley pot a pan/blend rather than a Volume. I suppose it could be someone has modded the bass for two volumes this way? As others have said, it's a quality part, I think easily replaced with OEM. It surely wouldn't put me offa' that bass especially at that price if I wanted another Alembic 5-string. Those cupholder Omegas are mighty purty, but they sure take a lot of punishment.

Our friend here knows what he's looking for though and this isn't *quite* the one. I get that. Hang in there, you'll find it.

Now I gotta' find that thread.

Very nice!!

I ended up buying the koa signature - it turned out to be 1.75" deep and I have the guts from a Series bass of that era, so it will be getting an upgrade.

That'll make a cool project.  8)

Congrats David!  That's a nice looking bass and upgrading it to a Series model would be amazing.  Spend some time playing it before you start carving. :)  Good luck with the project.  Please keep us all posted.
