Good evening all so my DS 5  power supply switch is broken, and it's will only play the left side (Bass) loud but the right side (treble) very soft. And I must've hit the switch against something and now it is not operating mono/stereo anymore. Any ideas?

if yer talking aboot the mono/stereo 1/4" (US) female i can tell ya it's an old school mechanical contraption that won't take much abuse.  here's one i pulled outta my DS-5 to make room for a mute switch.  ya don't need l33t skillz to replace one but ya do need to know which end of the soldering iron's hot.  i got an extra if yours is bolloxed but the R & R work is up to you.

Well, my friend thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if that's the one I need. Because I don't have much expertise in the area of the D5 electronics. However, it is indeed the mono/stereo switch. I do know my way around the soldering iron a little bit. The interesting thing is that the DS five is not a very old one. So that's why I'm so upset that I must have dropped it somehow. It's one of the smaller ones that can fit in a gig bag. I do not know if it's too new for the one you're talking about, but I will take it if possible. How can we get this done?

Are you talking about the newer DS-5 with the mono/stereo toggle switch on the front, like the second picture below?  If so, has the switch physically broken off? 

BeenDown139 is talking about the older version like the first pic.  

It's not a very complicated circuit so you should be able to fix it yourself if you have some soldering chops.  Unscrew the rubber feet on the bottom and the inside chassis will slide out.  Post a couple pics if you can.

i guess i've never owned a new enuff DS-5 to know they put a mono/stereo switch on front these days.  i was kinda wondering just how much violence occured to yours to munge up the switching jack if that's what broke.  physically, that jack is huge and takes up a lot of space inside the box.  i think i may have 2 of them in the boneyard from when i modified both of my DS-5's a while back.  i never play my stereo basses in mono, so a front panel dual-channel mute switch works much better in my situation.  so if ya did bugger up yer jack, i can send ya one of mine, it's just scrap otherwise.  my email's in my profile.  good luck!

OK fellas I left my DS five at home, but it is the one on the right the one with the switch on the front. Does that change things as far as being able to fix it?

I had a minor issue with the switch that I cured by taping a bottle cap over it.
Not the prettiest solution,  but, it keeps it safe in my bag.

I used a piece of hi-impact foam. That's a better solution. If I had it to do again, I'd put a piece of foam in a bottle cap. 

I am not sure if the situations that you all described are the same here. It appears to be stuck in a stereo mode, even though the switch moves up and down loosely. It seems as though it may be broken from the inside. I am not sure if the situation that you guys talked about is applicable in my case. I will try and pull it apart to see what can be done. Any ideas would be fantastic. Thanks guys

The switch is a DPDT type. We can get you a new switch, or you can replace with one you find locally.
