yeah, i saw that.  couldn't help but notice that there's some pretty spendy instruments going up for sale on rrevverbb all of a sudden.  maybe that dragon wing sale not long ago emboldened some of the hoarders out there to see if they really do have a unicorn.

i love series II's.  had a couple.  still own one.  but $50k USD for one with no omega, no inlaid logo, no ebony lams and 4 strings to boot is really testing the market. front side LEDs notwithstanding.  got 'em.  not sure i like 'em.  haven't used 'em yet.  side LEDs are the bomb, tho.  imho.  ymmv.

<edit>. at least it's a long scale

i'm done buying instruments, so y'all go ahead on this one.

good luck to all!
Been down...now i'm out!

Yeah, I love the side LEDs, but to me the fretboard landing lights are a bit much. I guess that's why they're on an On/Off toggle... there if you want them, gone if they're not.

'80 Series I

Not an amount i would choose to pay but still it's a lovely bass, and no doubt sounds extraordinarily good.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

Does the omega signify anything beyond being pretty?

They always sound better with an Omega-cut, Vic.  8)

No, and yes. It's often seen on a custom body, and very desirable to some. I don't know if it (Standard Omega) was an upcharge in 1993, or if whoever commissioned that bass just preferred a Standard Point body. Either one would have been do-able.

That is an especially nice set of cocobolo. :o The laser markers are a custom bonus. Gold hardware... yeah boy. 13+ pounds... chuckle. They have the power supply and cable too. Looks like it's in decent shape. But $50K. We tell folks at the store. "ask what you want, take what you can get." I don't see anything to warrant that price, but it isn't mine.

Barend

Lovely but priced to keep! Or has to sell from the wife :-[

Mark King fans are dying or getting to the age where they can't play???? ;D

Nice bass, priced to 'protect'...lolol

There's an medium scale as well.

Well that's going to sit for a long time. The description says "SERIES II-MB-4" which would indicate medium scale. But then it says 34'' scale. ??? 13+ pounds!

Nova Constellatio

That makes me feel really good about what I paid for my Series II.

$50K?
I have lights along my '79 Series. You know what I heard a lot back when I used to trot that out? "Oh, you're the guy with lights on his bass."

Now if a six string med scale Khaleesi came up I would have to raid the 401K.

You could trade one of them funny-lookin' coins for it if they were legal tender...  😆

True, but I think they'd be getting the better end of the deal.

There's already been an $11,991 price drop. It's now only $37,999😁
