haven't posted up in a while because my band's on medical hiatus.  as you may know, i'm in an 80's cover band with a bunch of other 70-year-olds and we've all got some form or another of old men's health problems.  you old men out there know what i'm talking about.  you youngsters just wait.  it'll happen to you.  watch this video and see your future.

here's our first pass at head over heels.  i just happened to have the ebony amazon freshly strung with new rotosounds with me for this particular outing.  i went down a string guage (RS665LCs for those of you keeping track) just to give 'er that extra snap that this bass does so well.  the B-string on this bass is freaking  massive.  i could feel the whole house vibrate when i hit that low C. i was testing a new video camera that refused to connect to the laptop once i got on-site so i went wtih the laptop camera on selfie mode which explains why i'm the star of the show.  extra kudos to our drummer who's dealing with some serious men's issues but showed up to rehearsal ready to sing and play.

so i give you head over heels rendered on the ebony amazon.  cheers!

Michael's band on a set last night here. Bass sounds fantastic, and some mighty fun jams here.

Thanks Gregory, I missed the live stream.

Mike - that really sounded good and obviously was fun!

Thanks guys.    The whole set was not captured for some reason.    We played an hour and a half.    But the recording is only 22 minutes long.

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've been on the forum. I still play on the magnificent Alembic guitars. Mine is a 1996 Stanley Clarke Standard. Here's a little improvisation on Chick Corea's song "Spain." Hope you like it! Big up from France!

there hasen't been a posting from the old guys in thte basement for a while so here ya go. we're gearing up for the summer shows, got our next one the middle of this month.  looks like the arthritus is getting to my hands so this may be the last year i'm able to do this. i've been playing on cortisone shots to the fingers and lotsa high-potency CBD/THC rub and voltarin.  it's forced me to start playing with a pick again which i had to abondon years ago due to carpal tunnel.  but since i'm outta the workforce now it's not an issue.  the MKD lends itself to pick playing due to its comfort string spacing plus it just freaking roars  when i bear down on it with a pick. still gotta go fingerstyle for a lot of our stuff.  the pick and the MKD combined well for this song imho despite the original being played fretless and 1/2 step up from our version.  dunno if i'm gonna be able to get away with this on the SII 'cause of its narrow sapcing.

cheers!

The live version came off well:
I had trigger finger about six years ago and got a couple cortisone shots. After breaking my wrist in a bicycle accident it went away. Just last year it came back again in 2 different places. I can play through it but will eventually get shots again.

looks like ya found our band set review posting.  i shoot us live then following the show (or rehearsal) our keyboard player reviews the tape and we all get a text later in the day pointing out our clams.

this is from a show we did memorial day.  i had played a previous 3-hour show 4 days earlier using the SII and the A-bass so my shoulders were good and blown out.  so i went with the pretty bass and the frettless essence for this show.  both are about 11 Lbs (US) each and a whole lot eaiser on my body, especially when we got a 4-hour show like this one.  i'd like to upgrade that essence to a series or anniversary model but it looks like it's never gonna come to pass in my lifetime.  so i make the best of it.  i edited out a cut from that set and rendered it higher res so you can actually make out which bass i'm playing.  this particular song was a real booger to learn, gettin the bass sound right in the coda was tuff on a fretted bass so i went fretted (i eschew FX of any kind on my basses).

so here's stone in love from that set pounded out on a fretless essence strung with TI flats played thru a bi-amped rig.  the sound guy did ok with the FOH.  imho.  ymmv

obtw fyi we're playing tonight at the platte river grille in englewood colorado USA so if yer in the nieghborhood stop by and i'll buy ya a brew!

cheers!
