Title: BeenDown139's gigs
Post by: BeenDown139 on July 01, 2025, 03:04:15 PM
well hopefully we're not one and done.  The old guys from the basement (A.K.A. Madhouse) are playing july 4th 1-5pm at the platte river grille in scenic littleton, colorado USA.  pretty sure i'll be taking the SII to the show with either the mighty MKD or the headless for backup.  so come on down and hear us blast out the 80's tunes with some other stuff thrown in just for laffs.

well it looks like august 29th 6:30p for the old guys in the basement.  i'll probably go with the SII as my main player with the MKD as backup.  due to his recent passing,  i got roped into doing an ozzie tribute song for this gig.  so if yer out in littleton colorado USA over the labour day weekend stop on by and hear an alembicized rendition of crazytrain played by some old geezer who should know better at his age fer cryin' out loud.

looks like the last time i posted here was a year ago.  yikes!

we're doing the 4th of july 1-5 at the venerable platte river grille tomorrow.  again.  and again.  gonna be hot as heck.  we'll be featuring the star spangled banner played jimi hendrix woodstock style for the patriotic break by our grizzled old guitarist.  he played it last year there and it's not to be missed.  i'll have the essence fretless 5'er, the MKD and the headless along for shoulder and back relief.  the dragonwing's still in transit so it'll hafta wait until next month for its public debut hanging on my shoulder.  here's the promo from our last show.  i think they went overboard with the AI.

QuoteBreak a leg!

thanx!  it was hot as a $2 (USD) pistol but we made it.

looks like the dragon wing will be making its public debut this weekend, saturday the 18th from 7 - 11pm in parker, colorado USA at some outdoor venue i've never played before:

gonna have a fretless for the fretless stuff and the 5-string status with me for the drop-tuned stuff, gonna try to make it on a 4-string for the rest of hte show.  should be interesting.  and hot as heck.  again.  and again.

cheers!

Did the rest of the band see the Dragon Wing yet?

they were agog. especially given the parade of alembics that i rotate into our rehearsal/show carousel.  they haven't seen the front LEDs yet, tho.  not sure when the right moment for those is yet. 😱

ive been trying to keep it to only 2 on stage with me, a 5-string fretted and a fretless. now that i got a 4-string in the mix, it's getting complicated.

I know you are in an 80's cover band....but a rendition of "Blinded By The Light" would be an excellent introduction to the fretboard LED's!  8)

those things are so bright they cast a shadow. since that's the case, i dialed 'em up to the max when i was setting the bass up.  they wouldn't have been my choice on a custom build but i figure, if ya got it, might as well flaunt it.  i'm a bass narcissist and i can't really fathom where i'd use 'em without feeeling too.... narcissistic.  the intro to turn me loose?  this is not a subtle instrument.  tone-wise, it'll tear your face off, especially set up with roto rounds hammered on with a pick.  gonna be an interesting show.  we're starting to hit our stride.  hot summer night.  outdoor gig.  could be a blast.

slight change of plans...

looks like a heat advisory for saturday.  that coupled with doing a 4-hour show playing a still unfamilar bass and having to re-arrange my fingering from 5-string to 4-string was causing me to unconsciously stress about this show.  so we're going up with the headless (7 Lbs vs 11.5 Lbs.  US) instead and taking the heat precautions that i used whilst a construction worker before i retired 4 years ago.  i'll probably take the MKD along as backup (!) once i get tired of the sound of graphite.

there!  now i feel better!
