Thanks for everyone's patience. Please let us know if you run into any snags on the new Club.

Enjoy!

Adriaan and Dave did so much behind the scenes, and Ralph pulled at least one all-nighter to get things right. Woke up Erik a couple times to get the DNS done when needed.

The Club was in maintenance mode since April 10, so there have not been any posts in the interim.

Also, top right of each page you will find shortcuts for "Unread posts" and "Updated topics". Hope it helps!

Test Test Test.  Sent three replies in the last 10 minutes in two different threads and none are showing.  Profile info transferred over but the photo didn't go through

There I am!  It seemed like the first posts took some time to show up but they are there now....could be "operator error too!"

That is currently being addressed.  Like many other sites, we have been and still are getting hit by hackers and DDOS attacks.  Some of the changes that were made to the site were attempts to reduce these bots, but they seem to be increasing in number.  Indeed, that was our primary goal in making this change to our forum at this time.  So, further steps are now being implemented, and we hope to see some positive results.

David,

If you want to email what kinds of attacks the website is experiencing, I can check at work and see how we deal with it.

Thanks Rob.  We have someone working on it who does this as his profession.  It's all way outside any area of expertise I could have if I even had an area of expertise.  :)

Anybody know where to go to read new posts?  When you click unread posts, it takes you back to post #1 in each thread then you have to scroll to find the most recent one.  Doesn't seem to remember where you last left off.

From the unread posts or updated topics, you can click on the date and time under Last post, which takes you to the last post. When you see a NEW flag, you can click that to take you to (presumably) the first new posts on that topic.

I need it.  I'm old, I have memory problems, and I make lots of mistakes. Yesterday, after steeping the tea, instead of putting the spent tea leaves in the compost pail, I put them in the tea cup.  Could have used a "ARE YOU SURE?" then.  And there was night before last night when, instead of decaf, I realized I had just made high test coffee.  :)

Having strange behavior here today.  Getting logged off multiple times, refreshing and seeing a 'non-gui-interfaced' page (text only).
Topics not being marked as "read".
Delayed posting recognized while contributing on "What Are You Listening...."

Rebooted iPad and router.
iPadOS 17.7.10
Safari browser

Been working out what are hopefully the last few wrinkles in the new forum setup. Should have a great fewer bots slowing us down now.

A little more testing and we will open it up for posting again.

Thank you everyone for your patience!

I accidentaly posted a reply in the swap shop and wish list, it was intended as a PB.
I couldn't find the option to remove the reply, did I miss it or is it just not there?

I've moved it for you.  You might still be able to change the title; if not, let me know what you would prefer.

Unfortunately, no.  I find it hard to read as well, so I have the club site zoomed in my browser.  Not ideal, but it's readable.

I made a mistake also, pb = persoonlijk bericht (Dutch) = private message.

Anyways, I think the message got through, thanx!

I write my messages in a word editor and copy paste them to post.
I was writing a message and pasted it, but had to write some additional info.

That appeared in a different font size somehow... (so I copied the whole message and pasted it again)

Is this readable for the oldies here?
If so, the A with red arrow in the toolbar let's you set size, the other A is for font type.

(I count myself as oldie BTW, just past the half century mark and little letters are hard to read for me also) :-)

@FC Bass congrats on seeing Abraham!

The new version of the forum software works just fine to increase the text size when you increase the zoom level.

If you post in a larger font, this larger text will also increase in size for someone who has increased their zoom level. So it is better that the viewer set their zoom level.

OT but is this a Dutch habit? My wife had never heard of it, but she got a baker in town to make a custom Abraham cookie. I just love her so much.

@VicDiesel The modern take on that is they put a blow-up Abraham (or Sarah) in front of your house, with a 50 speed limit sign. At least the giant cookie is in good taste.

FCBass, you are never too old to rock as I found out recently just passing half way through my 60's and just joined a bluesy rock band. Not something I have ever played in a band so I may need to check your videos to hear what kind of tones I should be experimenting with. :-)

It isn't just the size but the thinness of the font and the lack of contrast with the various backgrounds. If the letters were heavier and of the size they are during edit it would resolve the problem for me and I suspect others. Even the smaller size in quoted text is heavier and more readable which would making zooming acceptable if not preferable. Just saying.
