Title: N.A.D. 2006 Excel short scale
Post by: fivestringdan on May 27, 2026, 05:13:33 PM
Got this bass recently. My first Alembic short scale and I am loving it! Validates my decision to order a medium scale six string.

I really love the Excel body shape, particularly in vermillion (I think that's vermillion).

Yes, such a beautiful wood! I found a couple pieces of figured vermilion this week and am even more awestruck.

Spec of the bass seems like;

Ash body
5 piece neck (maple/purpleheart)
zero radius ebony fingerboard
oval inlays
FatBoy bridge pickup
V,B, filter w/3way switch
cone peghead

Absolutely killer bass!

Thank you, Greg!

The zero radius board feel right at home! I forgot to ask Susan to spec my Custom 5 with a zero radius but remembered this time for the 6 string. It is also much easier to adjust the string height the way I like it with a flat board.
