The other thing to consider with the older alembics is the possibility of it requiring the noise cancelling upgrade.
I thought my 1980 SI needed that but after careful adjustment of the trim pots and a couple of John Entwhistle's spare pickups, it's silent noise wise.
Hopefully which ever one you buy will be free of interference noise.
