Thanks! Remember that I'm presenting the best parts, sometimes we can get really noodly... But you're right, when we hit it, it's a nice feeling! And I love recording/videoing, because I'm not always aware in the moment when we strike gold but find those gems later on (to mix metaphors)

Noodly with great tone. The guitars sounded nice at the end of the clip.

I need to start posting again! Went to Japan last November and just never got back into the Club groove. But I have been playing, and the SCSS has made a couple of appearances, here are a couple from May:

Recorded a Steely Dan bass cover with the SCSS:


One significant thing about this video is that I haven't really been able to play with my fingers (plucking hand) for about a year due to trigger finger I developed last summer (probably due to both too much iPhone and playing too hard with the band) - I love playing with a pick, but I also love being able to play with either pick or fingers. 

I'm using just the neck pickup here - it strikes me as somewhat "P-like" though the low end here is a bit tubby, probably due to a little too much "deep" on the Tech21 Geddy Lee SansAmp, or is it the Darkglass? Gotta experiment more...

Excellent rendition of a great bassline of a great song.
I'm still a big fan of Steely Dan including the solo works of Donald and Walter.
In recent years I started learning some their songs too and realised they are more intricate and interesting than i expected. Chuck Rainey is a superbly creative bass player.

Thanks! The song structures and harmony in Steely Dan are definitely interesting! I remember being blown away by Chuck Rainey's playing on Aja (he's on all but one song) - I think I'm going to try and do a video of one of those next, maybe Black Cow.
