I have an all maple, apart from the neck lams, Europa and have the same experience, it's really bright without ever any  harshness. Closing the filter down on both pickups gives a lovely rich clean bottom end with an essence of what i hear to be slight compression. In fact it has been my goto bass for reggae gigs for many years. Enjoy that beauty. 👍🏾

That maple aged to such a beautiful gold. Just hoping I live long enough to see mine get there. My '89 already made it. I try to leave the Custom fretless out in the house for max UV exposure.
