This time, it wasn’t just a pair of shoes: 76-569

As some of you know, a few weeks ago, I went to my Mail Drop to pick up 75-207 and discovered that someone had swapped its label onto a cheap pair of shoes. The investigation into that is ongoing.

On a brighter note, I unboxed 76-569 today. This time, no shoes!

Wow, really nice! Long scale I guess? Really like that yellow-ish looks.

Just curious, isn't that pickup switch on the point models in the way when slapping? It's so close to the neck.

The bridge looked a little high to be a long scale to me, but I measured and it's 34". I don't do a lot of slapping, so I don't mind the old-school pickup selector.

This one looks like it's Birdseye/spalted maple on a maple core with walnut stringers and a birch center strip. It sounds incredible.

I love the birdseye maple combined with the aged 70s finish!  Maybe my favorite Alembic "look".  Congratulations!!

Nice! Doing a double take here, it's a close cousin to 75-254.  :)

Congratulations & Compliments! Always hooked by birdseye maple. That's an interesting one!

Beautiful bass, congratulations!

I wonder how the bass would hang if you used the alternative strap button on the back of the bass.

Wow Nova, that is stunning!!  8)  8)  8)

Such amazing wood!!

That standard point looks deadly ;D  ;D  ;D

I haven't tried the rear-mounted strap pin yet — it worked perfectly with the one on the horn.

The point on this one is unusually long/fine.

I can imagine how clean that bass sounds with all that maple in the construction. 👍🏾

It's good to know the bass is in your hands.

I am curious about those strings.   Black with purple silk, yet colored string ends like D'Addario.    Do you know what they are?    I have not seen anything like that before.    Are they flatwounds?    The pic looks like rounds.

I was worried that it might end up too bright, but it is clear and bell-like without being shrill at all.

I threw some Labella black nylon tapes on it. They lasted all of an hour before I decided to swap some rounds back on. They didn't sound bad, but the top end on this one is so good, I don't want to hide it.
