Any of you use this platform?  How do you feel about it? 

There's a YouTube channel I buy a monthly subscription to, but it's just a pain for a number of reasons. I'd much rather support the source from an alternate platform and that's one that is available. I know nothing about it. I know the app is 4.5 stars. 

FWIW, 90% of the watching/listening I do is in my shop, the other 10% is in my vehicle with my mobile device Bluetooth'ed to the audio system or in the house. 100% of everything is streamed on that same mobile device, I have 5G service and an unlimited data plan... so... 

If you have used the service and can give a positive review or you don't like it for some reason, sound off please.

The only Patreon I use is for the daily comic strip Bloom County Boys by Berkeley Breathed. I don't really notice the backstage app stuff. 

Although I don't have any direct experience with Patreon I have some musician friends who teach there. It seems to be a legit platform and the money does go to the content provider.  Kinda like Bandcamp if you want to buy albums (in the digital format of your choice).  These seem like a couple good organizations.

Well, what precipitated my desire for the move was a notification from YouTube yesterday. Because of the difference in exchange rates, my subscription will change next month, which is fine - I get that part. The channel I subscribe to is a history lecturer in Northern Ireland. I don't know what the over/under is between $/£ but whatever it is I'd as soon cut out the YouTube middle-man, lose the commercials (which are annoyingly 5X LOUDER than my video volume) and get the bonus content they post on Patreon.

I haven't had television for 19 years now, so I love YouTube for what it is. I love being able to follow a few artists and friends on there, including a few folks here. I can access music stuff, luthier stuff, news outlets, documentaries, anything I want to see or hear. It's just that it seems like every time I open it there's something else different that I either don't want, don't need, or don't like. 

Think I'm going to try Patreon for at least my weekly podcast. I haven't heard anything negative about it. 

With regard to PATREON in my personal experience, I have many very talented musicians within my in international social media web that I have interacted with. As well with TWITCH, whereas such interaction has been a benefit with a mutual win /win scenario for the propagation of my efforts as a bassist across genres as well as a published lyricist. It's all good! Many of the individuals who use PATREON are struggling musicians who have decided to dedicate theirs lives to the ART LIFE of creation and the probation of such. TWITCH seems to be a popular platform of busking and I have indulged in the support many ARTISTS on that platform as well. In turn what goes around, comes around in reciprocal gratis.   

I downloaded the app, and set up a simple profile so I get notifications when content is posted. So far I like it.
