My client just picked his bass up a few minutes ago, very pleased with it. It really was a fine instrument once cleaned up and set up.

I'm always surprised when people say that.  
I have enough bad experience with Peavy electronics that I've never even picked up one of their instruments, assuming they would also be crap.
Guess one of these decades I should try one.

The band I was in mid-80's, the band leader told me "we've got 8 CS-800's; four in the PA rig and four in the shop. We rotate 'em out".

I never owned any Peavey gear, but they obviously hit the sweet spot with the 5150 amp and their EVH instruments.

I saw an interview with Hartley back then (stop me if I've told you this one); he said (and I'll try to type this in his accent) "Ah mek gheyear fer th pickr wurkin downet Sadie's Baren Grheuhl."

Translation: "I license good designs, then build them with the cheapest parts & labor I can find."  The CS-800, for example, was a badly done BGW 750.

And I know nothing about the 5150 or EVH, because I avoid anything remotely related to Eddie Van Stripeyguitar.........

those Rudy Sarzo's are nice, we've got a guy who brings his in; I've never played it, but you can see it's a quality build...

Most of what I work on in the shop anymore isn't that interesting or challenging. Certainly not worth posting about. It does pay some bills and I enjoy my time in here, especially this time of morning before daylight. Coffee, radio down low, night sounds outside. 

I'll put something up again sometime. I really didn't think this one through first and take 'before' and 'in-progess' pics... just struck me as a pretty cool thing by the time I was almost done with it.
