Hey all,

I've got a few Alembic Club posts under my belt but have'nt done the official introduction.

I've been playing Bass about 27 years.
I've had my Name-Sake 1972 Rickenbacker FireGlo 4001 for ~24 years and I've had my Alembic Flame Koa Persuader nearly 9 years now.

My Amp is an Ampeg B-15R (reissue) 2-15 Stack.

Certainly cannot say I'm not spoiled, even if my Alembic is a Persuader, not a Spoiler!

Garret, I had a 72 Rick 3000 that I bought new. It was the first good bass I ever owned. What a dream to play.

Ricks & Alembics; great California gear. It must be something in the water on the left coast (as lbpesq says).

You are already endearing youself to me. I mean that in the best way.
What you said about the left coast I dig!

It fits with me very well. I was born in LA CA. and lived there till I was 10 years old. We move up to Portland OR. for six months and then up to Kennewick WA. (the Tri-Cities WA.) where I lived till I was 26 years old. From there my wife, Glory, and I move down to Corvallis OR., where we've been for almost 19 years.
So I really am a left coast guy! All three states.
There's deffinitely something about California Basses!

Actually, it would be great to see some pics of what each of you guys have.

There sure are some beauties out there.

I haven't owned the 72 3000 in almost 30 years. I've gotten out of music and sold all my instruments/gear twice (never again, though). One of the pics shows the '77 Rick amp I had. I decided to sell it last year to a true Rick fan who was thrilled to get it. Money is money when you sell something but it's always great to sell to someone who really appreciates the item. I really don't have a burning desire to have another 3000 but an early 4001 or so is the only bass that I would like to own other than possibly one of the filter Alembics. I love that classic growl that defines the Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, etc. sound.

I have a couple of mid 70's Rick 4001's that are very sweet. Along with a couple of G&L's and Alembics, I am proud to have a rack of California made basses, even if I am a Midwest guy. The left coast is a term I borrowed from lpbesq here, as a lefty, I like it. If the winters get brutal again, I will retire out your way, but the last several years have been very mild thankfully and good for the basses too.

Sounds like some nice Basses, but like some Bass friends of mine at Harmony Central Bass Forum say no pics, they don't exist!

That sounds worse than I thought, to read!

Anyway, if you do have some pictures of your Basses it would be very nice to see them.

This was my lineup before the quest for the B-15R! The Rick at far left is my '74 Walnut that I sold to buy my B-15R. Next to it is a Bass I made, Alembic style. Then my '72 Rick and next is my Persuader. The last one is a '81 Jetglo 4001 that was Fostered to me by a very good friend about 10 years ago for repair!

I have plenty of pictures but not the technical prowess to post them... they are on a digital camera with an average size of 3 or 5 mg.
