I don't know if we talked about this before, but I think this bass is actually Bocate.

I'm not shure if it was on the club or in a personal mail, but you did mention it some time ago ;-)
I think the serial number is 88S4710, it's extremely faint though...

@ Bill: that's the '88, the '83 is the black one ;-)

@ Taylor: fortunately, due to the altered electronics setup compared to Jason's bass (in original config) there's no room for the UKCUF sticker, there will be a Graffix sticker on it after I've send it back to Alembic for the Series II upgrade. :-)

From the misc. section:  "I just bought a complete and brand new Hardware set for my first ('88) Spoiler to celebrate :-) It came up on the used market over here (not the set from eBay, this is a complete set with Schallers, the bird tailpiece, bridge + bridgeblock (!), nut and all the mounting stuff. I will post a picture/info in the showcase section"  The hardware on my Spoiler is in a miserable state... About ten years ago I polished it and applied a layer of clear powder coating, after some years the hardware started to corrode at some points...  Talk about a nice challenge: Try to remove powder coating... The only way is to brutally sand it down or to use some nasty chemicals, I?m not sure how brass will react to that? With this new set I can take my time and see what?s the best way to remove it :-)   Pics:

More pics (also of the old hardware) will follow once I installed it :-)  Annyone interested in the truss rods cover? Shoot me a mail ;-) (address is in my profile)

Maybe I will use the sustain block for a diy project after I have cleaned up the original hardware, I'm not going to put a router on any of my basses ;-)

The A and D tuner won't be a big problem, I happen to be a quite able metalworker (both in music and in my work) :-)
Maybe I?ll try sanding the upper part of the bracket and the lower part of the other bracket so they slide over each other, leaving the holes intact.
I have access to some need CNC equipment and can work with a tolerance of 0,1 mm.

The set should arrive Saturday or Monday, stay tuned :-)

Thanx, we had a blast! :-)

The set arrived today :-)

(huge version
Got an old Activator brochure as bonus, I will post scans on the serial number page asap.

Brand new (never used) bridge and bird:

(huge version)

Strings alignment looks fine:

(even with the first (highest) string fitted properly on the bridge saddle

)
This bass is normally tuned ADGC hence the gigantic strings, for now I have it tuned BEAD to practice some low B chops in preparation for the new kid :-)

Unfortunately the new nut is too narrow:

The old bird:

Old bridge:

Most of the stains are under the powdercoating, you can?t feel them if you rub your fingers over it?

I will take the ?new? bridge apart this weekend and give it some tlc (there's some corrosion), for now I leave the bird as is (it has the factory coating on it)
I only changed the ears of the top two Schallers for now.

Anyone interested in the nut and/or truss rods cover can shoot me a mail (address is in my profile) I will post exact measurements in the for sale section asap.
The tiny bar that goes under the nut is missing though?

Happy family:
