Congrats to you! Another bassist afflicted with GAS.
(gear acquisition syndrome). Let me know how the 410 is. You can't have too many cabs. I found Andy to be helpful but not cheery. I think that someone who is always thinking abouts ohms, db, impedence and stress points may not wear Hawaian shirts much. I'm happy with the 210. I hope that Beaver is right for your bass. I will continue to exist in the rock garden, listening to the wind chimes and meditate.... bass come soon, bass come soon, tour on August, am I gonna have it?, don't call Mica, don't call Mica.....bass come soon, bass come soon, tour in August, am I gonna have it? don't call Mica, don't call Mica (repeat 80 thousand times and order funny white jacket with long sleeves and straps)

Yeah, the GAS is bad.  I haven't played for over a year, started playing again, and now have a bad case of GAS.  First the Excel 5-string, now the cabinets, and soon the Excel experiment listed on this thread.  Amazing.

Tour?  You are going on tour and waiting for the bass?  I guess you are suffering from ANBDS (Acute new bass depreviation syndrom)!!!!!

The latest excel is really an extravagant third bass for the road. Since I'm getting more whistles on this it might end up beiung the main bass of DOOM! My band Doomtree requires dark stuff.
I have a few other Alembics that don't really suit the genre. I have the aforementioned Excel 5 in almost black, 2 fatboys w/v b t q knobs and my 83 koa spoiler refinished in glorious black set up BEAD.So even though I'm waiting, I'm well covered!
We're in the process of booking the tour and will hit MD, OH, VA, MO, NC, SC, TN and maybe IL.

Well, I am proud to announce that the order for this bass went in today!  There are some modifications from when we originally started, so here it is:

Excel 5-String
-Ash body
-Gloss finish on body
-Maple/Pau Ferro neck with purpleheart laminates
-Satin finish on back of neck
-Redwood Burl top
-Dual Fatboy Pickups
-Epic Electronics
-Sustain Block
-Brushed Nickel Hardware
-Brushed Nickel/Chrome Machine Heads
-Nickel/Chrome Recessed Strap Locks
-Hard shell case

I ordered it through Bass Central in Orlando, FL.  Beaver Felton is the primary owner of this store, and his crew of guys are excellent.  He gave me quite a good price, plus Susan/Mica through in some extra stuff since I didn't want the monthly special.

Kudos to Alembic.  I hope mine is a featured custom, but I doubt it.  Anyways, Mica promised to open a factory to customer thread.

Danno, sorry, I forgot to post about the Acme 4x10.  Amazing!!!  The midrange really adds a lot to the overall definition.  Right now I am practicing with just the 2x10 at rehearsal, but will bring both the 2x10 and 4x10 to gigs.  I probably won't run the 4x10 unless it's a large room.  I like having my cabinet slightly elevated, makes things easier to hear.  I am shocked about the Acme cabinets.  I had my doubts ordering them, but I am glad I did.  I loved SWR back 8 years ago, but their stuff just isn't the same anymore.  Thanks for the tip!

Mica, I know I am a pest!  Any update when this bad boy is going to start?  I did finally get the AE-3 module for my Epic!  Now that I installed the 1-vol in the Excel, installing the AE-3 should be a breeze!

Danno, do you ever tour in FL?  If so, let me know, I will hook up with you.

Paul- thanks, I can't wait to see this thing.  It's going to be a beauty.  I just don't know still about leaving out the q-switch, but I am not a control monger anyways.

I'm sure we'll get to Florida sometime. Right now ust working on the initial dates around the Antifest in Tn. on August 9th. Just went backstage for Queens of the Stoneage and Peppers. QSA, very nice guys, great show.  The vocalist for Doomtree has friendships and connections with a few well known bands. Hoping that we can get some dates when they headline themselves. I've been spending like a lunitic lately but I'll try to get the 410 in a little while.
