(x) 76281 Series I

Hi ~ I've wanted to ask about my Series I bass for a long time.  I purchased this on August 24, 1988 at Thoroughbred Music, Sarasota, Florida (I found it while on vacation)...Mica, any information would be great (woods, who it was built for et cetera)...you can't see it too well in the pix, but there is an engraved plate on the back that says Alembic, 76-281, Built 2-26-76, Bought 6-17-76...also the trus rod cover is engraved Alembic. Unfortunately, the hardware is pitted and shows it's age. The original flight case is interesting too...with the serial number in the case. Check out the blue box...did you really make the power supply like that?  I played with a guy who has a 76 series I guitar (just a few numbers higher than mine)and he has a more slick looking power supply.  Any info is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Cool looking bass! I have 76 286 if I remember the number right. The truss rod cover is probally not original and the two switches don't seem to be the same on the control area. Is there a serial number at the end of the neck on top? Is it Lacewood I wonder or something else? Power supply on mine is the typical Alembic unit.

Original owner was in North Carolina.  
 
The power supply does not look like something we produced, largely because of the 5-pin connector is a type we didn't ever buy. It's possible we made it, but mom and dad do not remember anything like it, so it's safe to say we probably didn't. Also, we would have labelled it 22V  
 
Looks like original switches on the bass, but is the treble channel Q switch broken?
