Hi Brothers and Sisters, it took me about 4 years to complete this but, well, patience is a wonderful force to get somewhere (isn't it Brother Bob the cook one)! So here you have some pictures of my "new" rig. Except the DS5-R, the speakers and racklight is everything second or more hand. Top to bottom: - American Audio racklight/power conditioner-distributot - Lexicon MPX-100 Dual channel Effect pocessor - SF-2 (don't mind the settings) - F1-X - DS5-R - Korg DT1-pro tuner -Dynacord L-1000 Lineair precision Power Amp - Glockenklang "Quattro" - Glockenklang "Uno" - Bonnie is right (with psychadelic reflections on her body) - the footswich of the Lexicon is left on the ground. Signal path: - guitar into DS-5R - DS-5R Mono out front into F1-X - Full range out back F1-X to Korg DT1 - SF-2 in effect-loop of F1-X. SF-2 channel A in, switch to mono, channel B out. - F1-X in bi-amp - F1-X Low pass to Channel B on Dynacord and so to Glock "uno" - F1-X high-pass to mono in Lexicon - Lexicon Mono out to Channel A of Dynacord and from there to Glock Quattro. The sound tweaking is in process but it looks very promising.

Wow,very impressive.I want to switch to a power amp and get an F-1X to run my SF-2 into.I use an old SWR SM-400 with the SF-2 in the loop.Sounds great for some things but a little under powered.I really dig the Glockenlang cabs too.I covet Glockenlang amps and would love to get my hands on a power amp from them.You must be very happy with that rig,I would be.It's great to be alive,ain't it?

Hey Paul,by the way,how do you have the filter type's set?It looks like you use A for the high end and B for the low.I'm just the opposite.Plus I use the SF-2 in stereo mode.For some reason it sounds better to me that way.
Bonnie looks real sweet posing next to such a stellar rig too.

Hey Brother David,

yep ...it's great to be alive!
The SF-2 settings I'm just start to learn! On this moment it's mono indeed because it seems more simple to me toi start with. A is on band pass for emphasis on certain mid-sounds, B is on Low pass. Bonnie delivers the highs unthreated. She's in Mono by the way with bridge PU on full and Neck PU on 1/2.
I'm just tweaking and learning ...and tweaking again. I guess the tewaking will stop after you learn the functionality of the set in different occasions.

Wow, great rig. And believe me, you'll never stop tweaking and turning. You have so much ways to work with such a set-up. Just curious, what will happen if you run the bass in stereo-mode, and both signals run into the SF-2, and then one into the F-1X and the other one into the Lexicon, or the other way around, or ....... (Man, if I had such a rig I wouldn't sleep for a month. Neither my neighbours...)

Well Oliver, Mattheus, Werner, Jan, Willem, Edwin, Roger, it seems that I have to organise a small top my place no? I'll send the mails with a proposal. It will be on a saturday or a sunday starting noon.

To be honest, the continously tweaking would give me a headache. I do it in small portions. Just to get the functionalities in my fingers and mind.

Nice set-up. I have a question about your signal path. You are running your tuner from the full range out on the FX1. Should I be doing that. I currently have my tuner in the effects loop (1st in line) along with a pedal or two, then back into the FX1. I have the high output going to my 4x10 and the low going to my 18. Does connecting the full range output interfer with bi-amping outputs? Thanks in advance.

Brother Kevin,

as far as other people told me, a tuner always inflluence your tone. Of course it IS handy to have it in the loop beacuse you can use the mute bottom and tune quickly in silence.
I feed the Full range output to the Tuner and there ENDS the signal. There is IMO NO interference in doing this with the high and low outs of the cross-over. Brother Harold (the good-mann who sold me my F1-X a former bass-player and skilled sound-engineer) gave me the advice to use effects only AFTER the cross-over and ALONE on the high signal, because low frequencies tend not to respond a lot to effects as chorus, reverb, delay, harmoniser, etc ... the effects I use (very modestly).
There WERE some reactions already on this set-up in the club of brothers who liked to experiment with the TOTAL signal in the effect but my experience is that even the LEXICON absolutely not like it (it is not a special bass-effect tool, just a regular, general effect tool).

Kevin; I think the general rule is that the more stuff you have in the signal chain the more noise you're sending to the speakers. My guess is that on stage in a loud bar it's probably not going to make an appreciable difference. For my tuner I run a cable from the second instrument input on the front on my F-1X to the tuner input. That keeps the tuner out of the signal chain and it allows me to turn the volume down on the F-1X so my tuning isn't being run from the direct out to the PA; especially helpful during drum solos. I could be wrong in assuming that my tuner is out of the chain; but I think that by being connected to the second input all that's happening is a direct signal from the bass is being sent to the tuner. Perhaps someone with an electronics background can set me straight.

It gets bigger every time I see it. You are spoiling Bonnie with all that candy, but she's worth it

Now what we need is for you to get some recordings of the monster sound that rig makes with Bonnie! Pretty soon you'll need to hire someone to move you equipment!
