Been A Long Time. .
« on: February 13, 2012, 06:53:11 AM »
Well, hello my Alembic brothers and sisters! It's been ages since I posted here. I just finished recording a little piece using my '74 Small Standard. It's three stereo tracks of improvised music in an Open D Tuning. I'm using it as soundtrack to a little film I made called The Seagull. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz7fhEBz0Lo&list=UUaqT6oxceXRm2X2bgD68_4g&index=1&feature=plcp

Thanks Rusty! If you listen to the track with stereo headhones you really get the full effect of the aural shifts that are going on. One thing I've always liked about the Series 1S was that you could get a resonance feedback happening with them in the extreme filter position on the treble pickup. Also I can plug headphones right into the bass and practice the signal is that hot. . it's been decades and I STILL love this bass the best. .

Rusty: Cool! Yeah the stereo space that happens when I record directly into the board with my Alembic. Yes, get some licks together and lay down some tracks my friend!

I have some stuff I'm working on, but it's not finished. I have Pro Tools 9 on my PC & it is AMAZING! I'm still learning it, but have the basics down so I can lay down some tracks.

My wife is a teacher, so she got it half price from Acedemic Superstore. They just came out with Pro Tools 10, & I think the full version goes for around $600. I can do the upgrade for $300, but 9 does everything I need it to do.

Nice pic, Bucky! It looks like a Tina Modotti shot from her sojourn to Mexico with Weston!

You're welcome! It's about the cost of one recording session in a studio & with Pro Tools you have unlimited studio time right in your home! There are a wealth of training videos available for sale & on You Tube to teach you how to use it too. It comes with a ton of prerecorded tracks of all instruments you can build songs with, & several MIDI instruments you can create your own tracks with. You don't even have to have a MIDI keyboard to use the on board instruments, but it's much easier if you have one.

I hear that. I've been recording in my home studio with Garage Band for years!
