The Moody straps are not Alembic products. The Alembic straps are made by Moody Leather. You can get the exact same straps from Moody but with their logo not the Alembic logo.
 
Not familiar with the Minotaur but my 4 Moody strap is the most comfortable strap I have ever owned. The quality of the leather is top-notch and the straps are soft and pliable right out of the box, no need to break them in.

All the new straps i have bought over the past 4 years have been Minotaur straps direct from their on-line store. They are really great quality too and do help with the weight of alembic basses. I bought this one to go with my short scale bass but decided it went better visually with my strat.

I was pleasantly surprised when I tried out the 4 Gruv Gear strap for 50.00! Fantastic strap.

Thanks Jazzy and Brian, I'm looking into those. Looks like Minotaur is based in Greece... there's a place not far from me that sells the Gruv Gear stuff as well.  
 
I'm hoping to find one really nice strap to use on both my current Alembic and the future one in the works, but not sure if they'll balance the same or close being two different body styles, albeit with the same scale.  
 
One is a Spoiler-body Persuader 5, the new one will be an Anniversary Omega 5-string. Measured from button to button, it probably won't be a huge difference... I'm just thinking the Omega shaped one may require a slightly shorter strap to hang equally. (because of the location of the lower strap button above the Omega cut)  
 
Probably over-thinking things... but wider is definitely better with these basses. Neither is particularly light.

I purchased a ComfortStrap.  It has neoprene padding. It doesn't work for me, so if anyone wants to try it out I'll send it to you.  It's brand new, unused.

Sorry for the crappy pic, but it's the only one I could find that shows my strap:  

  Believe it or not, the safety pin on the neck end of the pad is the important part. There's no tension on the pin, it just holds the pad in place about a quarter inch forward of the balance point. That transfers the "neck dive" weight to my shoulder and back, buried in soft, fleecy goodness. (The weight, not my ba... oh, never mind.)  I don't have to support the weight with my left hand or by pushing down with my right arm. The bass hangs freely. It doesn't even rumple my collar (and if you've ever had your collar rumpled, you know how awkward that can be).   Best of all, because they're old-school uncool, by searching for "vintage" (or "Slash style") straps, you can find completely unused ones from the 50s and 60s for way cheap. I read about it in a 1970s interview with Jimmy Page, though my conversion didn't happen until the Foghorn said; "why don't you put a safety pin right there?"

I just received two Minotaur straps that I ordered, they are keepers!  Well made, padded and comfortable. They distribute the weight well and don't  slip on the shoulder, so no more neck dive and my 11-pound bass now feels like a five pounder.  Life is good in Alembicville!

Great news, I think the Minotaur straps are really great. I recommend them all the time. They should give me an endorsement deal. :-)
