Joey, after the six-pounder, do they have to lipo-suck your heart before they drop it into a recipient?

Joey, you almost sound homesick, brother.  Are you from the Austin area?  My hometown is about 190 miles to the north, Ft. Worth.  Sounds like a perfect vacation to me.

Sam:

No, I'm actually from Beaumont on the Texas Gulf Coast (between Houston and the Louisiana line on I-10).  Went home for Christmas, ate BBQ and TexMex and seafood, went to the Western Store (finally got some Lucchese's), and I do miss it.  I love Tennessee, but it just ain't Texas.  But then, what is?  And for most of our friends here, Summer NAMM in Austin is a GREAT excuse to spend time in one of my favorite Texas places.

Shoot.  Looks like I'm going to the wrong NAMM show.  I've experienced Austin and it is a LOT of fun, if you can take the cholesterol.  But, since I have a NAMM in my backyard, I'm going to Anaheim.

Not nearly as much fun as Austin though.

I wish They wouldn't schedule both NAMM shows during times of the year when I will definitely have lots of gigs.  April, May, or November would work better for me.  Maybe someday I'll bite the bullet and skip a couple gigs for NAMM...

Andy, do you know or have you gigged with a Jackson Hole guy named Kip Attaway?  Not the most politically correct guy in the world but is a good entertainer.

When in Austin, don't forget to stop at Fran's where you get a Strat with your burger.  Walking distance from Willie's Arlyn Studios.  If the place is still there, they make a very nice milk shake.  I think you have to call ahead for the Strat.  Any chance of getting Alembics on the menu?

Rich, I do know Kip.  He has sat in with several groups I've played with, but I don't think I have ever played a whole gig with him.  He is a tremendous entertainer, and that is largely due to his political incorrectness.  He's also a great guy, all around, and he's done a lot of very cool things for our community.  The first time I played with him, his eyes lit up when he saw my Alembic.  I was quite surprised he knew what it was!

NAMM was cool.  I met Leland Sklar!!

I also hung out with Jason and Kathy How from Rotosound!!  They are the sweetest people you'll ever meet.

Lastly - for you Trace Elliot fans out there - they will finally have USA distribution possibly as early as February for their new line - built by the original owner of TE - Peavey is their distribution channel ONLY so there should be no concern about quality.  I played through one of the new high-end rigs and it certainly rivals Ashdown or any other top-of-the-line gear out there.

I'm trying to upload some pics but it's not working.  Will try again.

I had fun!  Anyone else go?

Andy

I'm beginning to divide players into two groups:

Group A
.....olympic....?

Group B
OHMYGOSHI'VEALWAYSWANTEDTOSEEONEOFTHESEUPCLOSE!!!!!

Of course, Group B is the preferred bunch of people.  As for Group A, well, there's always Guitar Center!

I agree.  It's funny how things look more black and white as I age.  Olympic vs Alembic.
