March COTM: another Alembic triumph!

Wow!  What a gorgeous bass!  It's just so beautiful!  All the color is awesome!  The colo bolo looks fabulous, and the combination of ebony, maple, and mahagony in the neck looks awesome!  And I absolutely LOVE the Balance K body shape with the Heart Omega cutout!  If I were to get another custom bass, this would surely be the shape/form/model.

Have you played it yet?  The ebony will floor you.  That's a fact.

Just out of curiousity... I thought continuous wood was standard on Series II instruments... did you elect to get plates instead out of preference...?  I'd have gone for the continuous wood option myself.  Just curious.

At any rate, if looks absolutely awesome, another fabulous masterpiece!!!  Congratulations!

I am in love with Balance K body shape as well.  I've never thought of putting mahogany as the main neck wood but I really love that look.  It looks like an amazing bass.

I had a feeling this was coming, based on something Mica let slip in a conversation in January. Peter, congratulations on an absoloutely fantastic bass!!!  I hope it is everything you dreamed of and more.  This has been my favorite in the FTC for months now, and I'm really happy for you, as well as all of us who get to see more excellent pictures of this beauty.  PLEASE post some more of your own, along with a review of how it sounds and plays!

Truly beautiful.  I just love those pin stripe accents.  Every bass should have that.

Thanks all,
I was totally amazed when Mica told me that the bass would be COTM. The build started out as a Mark King and progressed to how it ended. I agree with Mark about the wood backplates. I was a little late making that decision and so it goes.
As for the sound, it is simply AMAZING! I love the playability of this neck. I have never played a bass that is as easy to play as this monster. I love it. The Mahogany in the neck adds a warmth that really sounds great.
Susan gets the credit for the pinstripe accents. I think they look great, and being so thin, the Maple doesn't influence the sound as much.
Thanks again to all the great folks at Alembic for their hard work and thanks to all the members who gave me insite when I needed it.

Regards,
Pete
