Hello Andy,

here's what we have:

1976 4 string long scale series bass
Purpleheart top & back
maple core
maple/purpleheart neck
Ebony fretboard
mother of pearl oval inlays
walnut peghead veneer
completed 12/21/76

That's it.

Valentino

I'll bet that the maple core with the purple heart top and back look great together.  Especially through a finish sprayed in 1976!  When you get a chance, please post some pics.

It is a pretty axe, indeed!  I love my bass, and I don't know what I would do without it.  Several years ago, I had to send it back to get the neck/headstock repaired.  It had delaminated right behind the nut.  The wizards at Alembic cut the neck on a diagonal, starting behind the first fret, and finishing between the 3rd and 4th frets.  They then replaced that part of the neck, as well as the headstock.  I had them re-fret it, as long as they had it apart.  It's difficult to see, but you can make it out in the picture if you look carefully.  Naturally, they returned the original pieces.  That's John Entwistle's signiture on the body, by the way
