Hello from the Netherlands!
« on: April 01, 2026, 07:42:54 AM »
Hi, I am new to this forum. This looks like a really nice forum.

I am a bass player from the Netherlands. I own a koa Spoiler bass. Really like it. So I caught the Alembic virus!  :)
Now I am looking for a medium scale series 1 bass. An Omega or Point has my preference, but I won't say no to a small body short scale either.

Here is me with my Spoiler, I have some more Spoiler video's on my YouTube channel. Hope you like it. Greetings, Barend:

Hi Barend, and welcome to the club!  Nice bass, nice playing.   What the gizmo that appears to be attached to the lower horn and resting on your leg?

Bill, the guitar one.

Thanks! That is a guitar support. Because when I play seated I play in a classical guitar position. It is instead of a classical guitar foot stool, so I can keep both feet on the ground. That support can be attached and detached easily without any damage.

Hey, welcome.... that music sound so great! Bass too, and your playing!
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

There is a medium scale Series I on Reverb

https://reverb.com/item/95589501-alembic-series-i-4-string-bass-guitar-1979-walnut-32-medium-scale

I have no affiliation

Thanks, saw that one. But that finish is really bad with the cracks. That needs a refinish. And maybe an electronic upgrade. Not sure about that. Bit worried about its overall condition.

Welkom, here and yn Fryslân :-)

No need to worry about the condition if you send it back to Alembic, it will come out as good (or better) as new with a refinish and electronics upgrade.
Won't be cheap (I guess around 10.000 Euro's after the work is done, incl shipping and import/tax) but still a fraction of a new one.
Your patience will face a real test though  -will be a lot quicker than a full build I think- but don't go that route if you want one fast.
