It was a Series II . The insurance investigator was here today and it looks like they are going to cover the replacement cost , we'll see.

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread and I agree with flaxattack.I do hope it gets returned to it's rightful owner and you don't have to take a claim on it instead.Chin up and keep your fingers crossed.

Folks the unbeleivable has happened , my girl got a call at work from the biggest used guitar shop in the area today that we had alerted to our loss, telling her that someone was in the shop at that moment trying to sell our bass. They held them ( a man and woman ) as long as possible but of course the police didnt arrive . They got spooked when they realized something was up and ran out of the shop and left the bass. The local police went over and picked up the guitar and are dusting it for prints and we should get it back in a day or two. If it wasnt for our due diligence of alerting all the local shops we wouldnt have found it cause the police were completely useless. Once we actually have it back in our hands Ill update again. Thanks to Atomic Music and their diligent staff it looks like #1260 is coming home.

Right on.Hopefully they got a shot of the perp's on a security cam somewhere.I'm so happy for you and the owner of the bass and I hope that it is in it's original pre-theft shape.

What a great way to celebrate Independence Day, with the recovery of a treasured artwork. I hope as Dave said that no further harm had come to it.

thats how I got mine back 25 years ago, alot of foot work, the only thing the Police did was tear the case to bits while it was in their property room for 9 months (I locked the case before the police got there, and it stayed locked while they had it) the case had alot of the tolex ripped off , but the bass was fine.
I'm so happy for you,
have a great weekend and holiday

Great news indeed! Now if they can catch up to the little crackheads justice will be served. At least you don't have to go shopping for a new insurance policy!!!

It's been a few days. Is the bass back in your (or the owner's) hands yet? Nothing wrong with it hopefully?

We just went and picked up #1260 at the police station today. With the holiday and all it took the detective a few extra days to process it. Unfortunately they couldnt get any real usable prints off of it. So I spent the last half hour cleaning print dust off of it for nothing. It has a few little dings on it that I dont think were there before but other than that its in pretty good shape considering . (At least no worse than it was before, see my other post in this section about the damage it already had) I think that after everything that has happened to this bass it deserves to be sent home to Santa Rosa for refinish and repair and  an overall going through. I know it wont be cheap but its worth it , as it should be back on stage in all its glory. I should be able to post some pics soon. Thanks to all for the encouraging thoughts and words , its great to have it back!
