$280 standard shipping to CONUS?  plus it's listed on ebay.  huge red flag imho.....

other than that, priced not too far from reality.  in the same county at least... there's lotsa nicer instruments on the market at much better prices imho.  unless ya just gotta have an early one.  at least the headstock ain't been broke.  gotta wonder jsut hwat kinda shape it's really in.  description says used.  i say no doubt.  whoo00OO00oo!

With that shipping price, do they buy a plane ticket for it and fly it to your city?

Don't know about the pricing on this one but the shipping is consistent with the going rate nowadays. I recently sold my 6-string Europa to Dan in Little Rock and the FedEx shipping with the additional insurance was about $125.00 for the bass. However, that is with a 75% discount my wife receives as a Delta Airlines employee. Now the additional insurance did add a bit, but even without it, the cost with the discount sans the extra insurance was about $90. So $300 seems about right.


One thing that those of you who ship via FedEx should know that I didn't realize until they informed me was that they are now restricting the declared value of instruments over 20-years of age to no more than $1,000. Guess I'll have to find another way to ship the 1714 da Vinci Ex-Seidel Stradivari violin (est. value 15.3 million) I recently sold. 

More seriously, when one has standard Heritage instrument insurance, is shipping after a sale covered or is the instrument considered to not be under one's ownership after the sale takes place and therefore you are not covered.

Have you guys shipped any guitar-sized boxes cross-country lately? It's insane what it costs, especially if you go to any trouble packing up, double boxing, etc.


The ebay ad looks genuine to me. If I was looking for a vintage Series bass, I'd be triggered. Wonder if it's long-scale?

all i know is that my last acquisition cost $150USD to insure and ship UPS ground from san diego to  stately BeenDownEstates here in hte sunny mile high .  prettysure the last bass i sent outta here was a simliar amount.

but otoh i do smoke a lotta dope these days so it may never have really happened for all i know.

That is a beautiful bass!    I love the finish.    If it were only a small standard in that condition.    I don't think the price is too far off at all.

Nice bass, nice price.  From my experience,  I always have the local UPS store pack, insure, and ship when I send a bass and it is always over $300 to do within the continental US.

I've had Heritage Insurance for a very long time. Shipping your instrument isn't covered by them. It's all risk/world wide coverage -except when shipping. I like the upper horn carve on this bass. The checking is too heavy for me, as I might feel that when playing it. I say it's a LSB.
