Ah yes, the first one is always special. (The second and third won't be slouches, by the  way, but let's not get ahead of ourselves).

However, one thing you won't like is how an Alembic will let boiled strings sound like they have been boiled.

had mixed luck with this.  flats - definitely not.
roto jazz rounds - usually, but not always.  mostly as a stop-gap while waiting for the new string order to arrive.  which reminds me:. time for new strings at castle BeenDown.  maybe give the pyramid flats another shot on teh fretless, eh what? 🧐

nice bass, btw.  may it give you years of pleasure and bring your chops to anew level, sir.

Yes, thanks. I look around the ‘net and find I am fortunate to have landed one as they are getting rare as you said… I bought it in the USA, AND it was only 300 miles away !
