Tres Cool Becvar Guitar on Reverb

Here’s a sweet 1978 lefty guitar from ex-Alembic employee Bruce Becvar.   The documentation seems to suggest it was originally a lefty guitar, but strung like a righty and meant to be played upside down. At some point it appears to have been modified to be a true lefty.   You don’t see Becvar guitars come up for sale very often.   I regularly check and this is the first one I’ve seen in several years.

I have always wondered - what manner of name is BecVar? I notice quite often the V is capitalized... sometimes not. And admittedly, I don't know which is correct. I do know his workmanship was nice.

According to several Googled responses Becvar is of Czech origin. Ancestry.com claims the occupational meaning is "maker of casks" which I guess is somewhat appropriate if you think of musical instruments as vessels for making music.
