Each to their own but to my ears it doesn't sound like an alembic at all.
But I guess that's not what he wanted from his bass.
What do your ears tell you?

Sounds like pretty much every bass I've ever heard that wasn't an Alembic (or, I guess, a Precision).

I do wish the subtitles had been in English instead of Japanese.

And the least he could have done would have been to put chicken-head knobs on it, eh?

Yeah that bass has certainly lost it's distinctive alembic accent but it doesn't sound bad.
Thankfully what has been done can easily be rectified if it came up for sale.
