« on: December 13, 2020, 10:41:32 AM »
Im curious as to when the most recent Alembic Series I or II guitar was made. Older models pop up for sale now and then but I don't remember seeing m(any) of more recent vintage on the market or in the archives.

The most recent one I can recall from here easily is this one which I think is around 2014.

I've been thinking about it for a while... even in the Showcase Thread section here, Series basses outnumber guitars by at least 10:1, though I don't know what the overall ratio might be over 50 years. I expect there are cycles where more guitars were produced, and other periods where scarcely a few orders for them were filled. A time for this, a time for that... every guitar-maker deals with trends. I bet if pressed, it might be hard for even Mica to tell you how many there are, but she'd come pretty darn close, having pulled so many of those index cards.

Lately it seems like the Darlings, Furthers, Tributes have taken frontline to the Series guitars, at least in demand. As a potential customer for a future Custom build Alembic guitar, I'm paying particular attention to the various guitar model specs. Details, you know... so many details.  ::)

I didn't know alembic made guitars until I got a catalogue sent to me from alembic some years back. I never saw one in person until I bought my orion guitar back in 2005 and apart from the ones I saw on my trip to the alembic meet in 2012, I have never seen any others. My guess would be that recently made series guitars are pretty rare outside the USA and Japan which is where I see most of them on sale on line.( although not that many compared to series basses) There are a few in the custom archive including my own which is a year 2000 guitar.
