R.I.P. Alex Trebeck
« on: November 08, 2020, 10:41:20 AM »
We all grew up with him.   He was truly an institution here in the USA having hosted Jeopardy for the better part of four decades.  Inarguably the greatest game show host of all time.

Answer: “Home”

“Where May the Four Winds Blow You Safely, Alex?”

To me, he (like Brent to many) will always be "the new guy"; I was imprinted early at my Grandma's knee with "And now, here's your host of Jeopardy, ART FLEMING!"

But still, a major bummer, and none the less so for being expected.  We have reached Final Jeopardy.

My wife and I are big Jeopardy fans, Alex was a class-act all the way and Jeopardy is one of the few game shows celebrating intelligence of the contests instead of using them as comedic props. Big loss for the entertainment industry.

Peter, I had forgotten completely about Art Fleming. I did a quick search to refresh the old brain cells about when he was host. I am surprised that nobody is reporting the weird coincidence that Art also died of pancreatic cancer, April of 1995 two weeks after being diagnosed. Maybe you shouldn't have brought up Brent (who I always also considered the "new" guy). The next person asked to host Jeopardy may want to think long and hard before taking the job.

"I lost on Jeopardy, baby, ooooo-ooooo-ooooo-ooooh"

RIP Mr. Trebek you are going to be missed.

Rather chilling to think of the similarities of GD keyboard players and Jeopardy hosts fate.
The only thing that stays the same is change.
