Alembic Sighting
« on: January 01, 2020, 10:42:24 AM »
We were watching the Dead’s 1978 NYE show (closing of Winterland) last night.  What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year!  Anyway, the DVD included an audio of NRPS (who, along with the Blues Brothers, was an opening act), doing Glendale Train with a montage of stills and video showing.  A bunch of the pics showed Dave Torbert with an Alembic that looked almost like a Peanut bass, as well as John “Marmaduke” Dawson playing a long scale Series Alembic with a six-in-line headstock.

There was a thread on the old Club with a picture of it... I think it was either Eiji or Dela posted about the single-cut Alembic bass. No idea where it is now. Good question.

*There are some old threads, but I can't access them. Eiji posted a picture in this thread of the Torbert bass- http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=975.msg9647#msg9647
