Bed at last!
« on: December 29, 2019, 09:27:22 PM »
Left Denver this AM; once e got off Peña & onto the highway we were fine.

When we pulled out of our lunch stop in North Platte, the Garmin still said we were on track to get to the hotel in Council Bluffs about 5:15.

That went out the window about 5 minutes later; we checked in at 10:05.

And it didn't snow at any point!  But apparently, nobody in the state of Nebraska has heard of those two modern wonders, snow fences and road salt.  Nothing like tearing down the Interstate at 5mph!

Perhaps you needed a one-horse-open-sleigh to ride, Coz... I hear they're fun this time of year!

Sorry man, had to.  ;D  Glad you're safe.

When I was a kid, I thought it was a “one horse soapen sleigh” and the runners had lots of soap rubbed on to make it glide smoothly (we used to rub soap or wax on the runners of our Flexible Flyer sleds).

Glad you made it home o.k., Peter.  Sounds like horrendous traffic or, as we refer to it out here, the daily commute!

hehehehe

And I always heard (different song) "we'll pretend that he is parse and brown".

Somehow, Bill, I don't think your daily commute involves blowing snow limiting viisibilty to e few feet, 2-3 inches of packed ice on the roadway, and semis jackknifing across both lanes (the last happened once on the west-bound lanes - no problem - and once on the east-bound - yeah, that was a pain (one guy ran out of gas in the middle of the Interstate waiting to get trough).
