Back on the market at a huge mark-up. Looks like someone’s trying to flip an instrument.

Ha, with more than a double price :)
The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car… everything else is merely colours.

Nice bass but it will be interesting if it sells for that price. If it does that's a good investment.

Yep, the seller had it up for a starting bid of only $3000 or best offer so I made him an offer of $3000 and he accepted.
Totally shocked that he accepted the offer but he did. It's a brand new ~$10k custom bass.
So I purchased it for inventory for the shop. We sell Pro Audio gear and high end guitars and basses primarily.
Sometimes we have to hunt high and low for inventory, sometimes it just falls in our lap so to speak.
The black finish really is beautiful. I prefer the natural wood finishes but this one really has a unique appeal and I love that the neck was left unfinished so that you can see some of the wood detail.
Another very cool factor is that the front and back of the peghead are actually ebony veneers.
Signature electronics and a very light weight at only 9.5 lbs make this a super cool bass. The only thing I am not totally in love with is the Mahogany neck. BUT, there are two veneers of purpleheart in there as well that offer sustain and stability that would otherwise be missing with an all Mahogany neck.
Who knows, I may end up keeping this one for my personal collection.

Yeah, I don't expect it to sell for $7k but it is a starting point. And considering that it is a ~$10k build and that it is brand new, it is a very fair starting point.
It's birthday is May 6th, 2019. Hot off the press!

The Ruthenium hardware against the black is stunning.
It is quite difficult to photograph gloss black finished guitars but the photos do a good enough job to show it off. In person, it is really spectacular.

It also has a twin, with a serial number just one below. Mica posted this on their instagram a short time ago. The only differences between the two basses that I know of are the hardware (Ruthenium plated vs Brass) and the neck profiles (Maple and mahogany vs mahogany and purpleheart). Very similar and almost identical looking at first glance.

Wow, that's amazing! Nice catch. I would probably have gone for it immediately at that price. My Distillate is truly amazing, but I really wish it were the usual medium scale.

This was a total exercise in GAS restraint for me. It was clearly an amazing instrument at a beyond-bargain price, and my finger hovered over the buy button. But I knew it wasn’t for me (I’m a 34” player). I visualized opening the case, playing it with intense admiration, then returning it to its slumber. Then I visualized another scenario: someone who will be ecstatically happy with this particular instrument. My finger moved away from the button.

I’m happy J9 snapped it up. If it’s not a keeper for him, he’ll facilitate that process and will have earned his markup. Coolness all around.
