Batteries for your basses

Whats everyone using for 9 volts in their active basses?  Alkaline or lithium?


If your bass isn't getting played for more than 5-6 months, will you remove the battery?

I use alkaline, only because they die down more gradually than lithium.  With lithium, it's BANG!  Totally dead battery.  ((And I try to use Duracell brand.). Yes, I would ABSOLUTELY remove the batteries on any bass not being played for an extended period of time.  I have an old Gibson Ripper that I added an Alembic Stratoblaster to, let the battery die, and leak... not good.

I have a tendency to only trust Duracell in my non series basses . With the series basses I only use the power supply and have removed the battery .

Same here.  Except no Ripper (always thought they looked super cool).

I feel like batteries are leaking sooner and more often - no empirical evidence, and time flies faster than it used to...

The other day one of my clocks stopped - took it down to replace the battery, and the battery was leaking! (Duracell) It leaked before it died! I gotta remember to take batteries out of things but I'm lazy and I forget, but if it's gonna leak before it dies...

I've been using the newish red topped Duracell 9v batteries for the past year. I put a fresh set in my Series I and began tracking how long they go with plugged-in time for future reference. So far, I've got a little over 6 hours on a set.


I've yet to kill one on any of my activator-equipped Alembics... I just change them out on a schedule and use the ones I pull out for a tuner and chorus pedal in my practice room until they are completely spent.

I haven't had good luck with the red top Duracell batteries. They seems to go dead really fast. We pretty much stick with good ol' Duracell copper top. On a Series I/II instrument I clock at least 20 hours.

Same here and I change them each 4 months despite still having charge. Once I pushed for maybe 9 months and they let me down in a middle of a performance. Such shame I don't want to live again, ever.
