I hope that everyone is well and able to persevere this exceedingly hot last few days . I hope that every one at Alembic Inc. as well is getting through this safely . I personally am finding this weather a bit overwhelming but I shall survive .

It has been really awful here in Oakland, I never do well in excessively hot weather but have been hanging on. Our house in the hills has a west facing exposure. The pounding sun and excessive heat all gets trapped by the hills behind our house making things miserable. SF, Alameda, Berkeley and all the coastal areas are also hot leaving no place to escape to. Our Malamute, Samson, is also miserable we feel so bad for him. Stay as cool as possible and, most importantly, keep hydrated!

Indeed Stephen . Awfully hot .   I noticed however that  my old neighborhood along Ocean Beach in the Sunset District of San Francisco  looks to be the coolest on the charts at this time . I am calling my "Uncle Fog " whom I grew up with to cool me off :)  I wish you all the best .

That is hot for the area. When we lived in the Bay Area we never bothered with A/C as it cooled down enough at night to cool the house off for the next day. That doesn't work well when daytime temps hit the 100 degree range (which is why we had A/C in our house in the Central Valley).

Yep, it is officially Too Damn Hot. My 2 hour outdoor gig 5-7PM on Sunday felt like a 4 hour gig. Supposed to be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow, he said hopefully.

I have to be aware of symptoms oxygen depravation with such high temperatures so  I am taking long  slow deep breaths and increasing my cold water intake.  As well I just submerged a hat in cold water that is now feeling really good to me on my head . That really seems to pull my mentation out of slow motion mode . :D  It works !

I just talked to my old friend down in Claremont, CA. (Sudden California!) She confirmed it's quite warm. Warm is good if you live with osteoarthritis. I'm sorry for my buddies on here, but I've been cold and damp for 4 days.  :P

Maybe I need to pull one like the Clampetts.  ;D

Gregory , yes indeed my osteoarthritis seems to be bothering me less with these current climatic conditions however my respiratory issues are just a tad more prevalent .  " If the thunder don't get you then the lightning will "  :)
I am feeling a little better now and I am working on the prototype of my backyard porch solar cell and  deep cycle battery storage project. :)

Sunday wasn't as bad as I expected. Monday was bad - 95 in the Oakland Hills - but it felt bearable because the next day was supposed to be cooler. Tuesday morning - expected high of 85 - until 11 am, when the high changed to 92! Then at 1 pm, the high changed to 100!!! Fortunately it never got there, but unfortunately it's after 8 pm and the expected cool-down is only coming very gradually.

We stayed home all three days because of my 19 year old cat Kismet, who we adopted last summer. I thought it would be too stressful to take her someplace else, but given that today the inside of my house got to almost 105 I realize we're going to need an alternate plan for the next heatwave...

Harry, Wolf, Steve, our home is heated by a heat pump which can run in reverse and, voila!  AC!  Tina doesn’t like to run it unless it gets really hot, and even then she turns it on so our cat Indy won’t be uncomfortable.  If it gets bad enough, come on over.

very warm in Southern California as well
Wouldn't be phased by these temperatures in August and September, but not this early in June. triple digits here as well.

I'd love to see your solar project, Wolf. I have a similar project starting in a month or two.

Toby , Thanks for your interest in my Solar project  , I will post pictures soon as per your interest when I get my act together ,  Which will be soon  :)
Thus far I have the wood structure at the front ledger support complete .   The prototype surface is 4 ' X 8' for the actual Solar Cell mounting surface .  Tonight I completed the bolt together fabrication of my double jointed hinges for the solar cell angle adjustment . Tomorrow I will mount them on the wooden framework , They are a set of three Left,  Right and Center on a Common Axis on a singular azimuth and zenith.  ( Tilt in one direction only )   30 degrees is preferred .   I am still working on the Zenith correction and adjustment if needed to increase the output and efficiency .
