Reasonable price yes, but the seller does not say why there is a pick acting as a shim on the neck pickup.  ???

Can’t say why there is s pick there, but the pickups are mounted incorrectly.  Perhaps if they were mounted correctly you wouldn’t need the pick there.  The seller could probably shed some light on that.

To me, the "Q" switches do not look original.  Also,  Mica did a look up on this bass
in Feb. '06.  Please excuse my lack of tech skills,  http://alembic.com/club/messages/394/25441.html?1140831632

At some point, the old Club incarnation will disappear, so for posterity's sake here's the link to that thread as it is now: http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=6325.0

For what it's worth, that is a Golden Gate pick... the only kind I use. Clearly this is a sign that bass should come live here.  ;D

Seriously, it's interesting that something was noted about how the neck pickup was mounted when new. I'm trying to imagine what good an improvised wedge would do in that spot.   ???

Thinking about this one...

Is there anyone that could please tell me how a bass like this would sound. Purpleheart on a Walnut core with a birch and Walnut neck? Although the Neck laminates look purpleheart, no?

top and back: purpleheart
core: Walnut
neck: Birch and Walnut, 32 medium scale
fingerboard: Ebony with mother of pearl oval inlays
peghead veneers: Walnut

Did someone here get this bass? If so, I should probably thank you.  ;D It was tempting me bad, and it was local. I hadn't really given much thought to a Series instrument until now, but between the price, location, and purpleheart top, it was enticing...

I, too, was smitten and was trying to will it to hold out a little longer.  Fair enough; I just hope the new owner is on the board so they can let us see more pictures of it and maybe make a recording on YouTube or soundcloud.  Congratulations!

The seller, Dave, is a great guy to deal with. I bought a Series I short scale from him a few years back. Item was exactly as advertised. I am sure this will be the case as well. Congratulations to the new owner.

Gearhead, resisting a series bass is not good for your heath and whilst the acquisition of one may not be good for your bank balance, at least you would have something to play the blues on till your funds replenish. :-)
You will know when “your series bass” appears and it will come to you. That has happened a few times to me and my ‘alembic wealth’ gives me so much pleasure.
Oh yes........ I love the blues. 🤪👍🏿😁🎼🎼🔈🔊🔉🎶🎵
