FretFx company still around?
« on: March 26, 2018, 04:06:21 PM »
 Hey Gang,
I placed an order online with FretFx around the middle of February and after two emails to him about verifying my order and then order status I’ve had no reply at all  I paid through PayPal and sent a inquisition email again through PayPal and still have not heard anything I have read other posts in the past that suggest that he may have some personal issues that have impeded his service in the past don’t want to cause anybody undo hard ache or stress but the website says up to 14 days  for delivery and this is 26 March please let me know if anyone has heard of his whereabouts or situation it’s a great product that my buddies swear by I ordered these to go on my pastors bass guitar I was blessed to have the free LED  upgrade of the month when I ordered my rogue years and years ago have heard this is a great great second best
 Warm regards,

I know Wolf, (Sonicus), very recently had his fret-fx delivered.  I believe there was some delay and lack of communication involved, but he did receive it.  I expect he'll chime in when he sees this.  As an aside, I installed fret-fx on a guitar last year and am very happy with the product.

I got a set of those a few years ago, the backing was all messed up, leading to the strip being destroyed before I could even get it on.

I then decided to try Luminlay out and put them in my Starfire. It's interesting, they need to be charged up in order to glow and I usually forget. They don't get activated all that well by LED stage lights but every now and then, then I end up under lights that work well and all of a sudden, there they are! Not as reliable as LEDs but it's fun to have such a pleasant surprise every now and then.

That is too long to have to wait without ANY type of reply or acknowledgement.

If I were you, I would open a paypal dispute. Fortunately, paypal has great buyer protection so if necessary you can file a dispute up to 90 days after payment is made.

I understand that people have hardships and things that take time and cause delays but there is really no excuse for not at least emailing your customers to give an update.

I recently purchased the FretFX product and I also experienced a little longer time then what the website indicates . I emailed them and requested an  estimated shipping date for my purchase .  I got a very congenial response from the proprietor stating that they were just a little backed up with a large volume of orders to catch up with . The response was very kind and Roz the proprietor offered to send me a full refund if I did not want to wait any longer.
I received my order shortly thereafter . I would think that if you just wait a lille longer that you will indeed get the item .I rationalized that this is a small scale manufacturing  outfit  and I had no problems waiting for a quality custom made to order item ._____  All is well that ends well .

I ordered some Fretfx back in the fall and they arrived in a couple of weeks. I have several basses with built in LED's and have used Fretfx on several basses and love them, they are the next best thing to built ins.

After waiting six weeks I filed with PayPal for a refund and fretfx sent tracking history showing it was delivered to the wrong address so it took three weeks from order to get to post office and two weeks to get shipped to wrong address. After notifying fretfx that it was delivered to the wrong address I thought I would finally get some correspondence but I was wrong. After five emails begging him for an order verification or product whereabouts he never sent or replied to my emails. He just slapped a new label on the tube and put it back in the mail and at close to eight weeks to get the product I was disappointed to find it arrived with a battery holder that instead of being like my buddies, a hard plastic housing protecting the wiring and battery retaining clips, it was outfitted with a housing that looked like it was the first attempt by a child who received a 3D printer for his tenth birthday. It is flimsy and was obviously whipped out very quickly. When I pulled the double faced tape off the battery holder and pressed it in place on the peg head the filaments forming it cracked apart from each other and looked nothing like what my buddies received.
This is not a suitable product to put on a $30,000.00 one of a kind bass which it was ordered for i was actually imbarrased to put it on my Buddie’s bass.
Poor workmanship combined with long wait and absolutely NO customer service makes for a very bad experience.

That is pretty terrible.
That looks like a wad of electrical tape.

That doesn't  look like the battery holder on any of mine.

That's what mine looks like, though it looks better when not photographically enlarged.  It works fine.  The battery is stored in its slot upside down.  Pull it out, turn it over, push back in and voila! - side LEDs - easy peasy.  I found mine to be a little too bright, so I used a less than fully charged battery from one of my clip-on tuners.

I was actually fairly busy  after receiving mine and just opened the mailing tube to be shocked at what I saw !  .  !t looks like that unit that Rogueman received as well . I sent Roz @ fretFx and email and wrote that this is not what was representational on the website .

UPDATE ;  I do actually now remember that at the time of shipment that  I was sent an instructional email on installation that had an image of the design type of the variation of battery housing that I have received . it appears that their designs have changed over the years . I was also surprised not to have received exactly what I had originally seen on their website. Apparently this new design type functions well from personal accounts that I have heard . I will give it a try .
