Reverb Offers Etiquette Q

So I'm selling my second-ever pedal on Reverb - within an hour get a low-ball offer. Is there etiquette on how quickly to respond or whether to respond at all? I'm going to hold off responding for now...

If it is an actual offer, you have 24 hours to respond. Did you set the 61% of listing price, offer filter? Usually, I get ridiculous low ball offers from messages. Most of the time, the low ball is sent out, to see what offer you respond with. Good Luck!!

That helps! Didn't know the 24 hour time limit. Also don't think I was aware of the "offer filter" - does that have a Q switch as well?

He actually didn't low-ball me that badly, but still going to wait a bit.

The offer filter is news to me, too.  And I have a shop on reverb!  Both offers and counter offers do indeed expire if not responded to in 24 hours.  When I get a ridiculous lowball offer, (which really doesn't happen all that often), I ignore it. 

My pet peeve are messages where, rather than making an offer, they ask: "what's your best price?"  I respond that my daddy taught me never to bid against myself.  My price is the listing price.  A potential buyer is always welcome to offer something less (I accept offers).  I tell them that the more reasonable the offer, the more reasonable the response.  It really is a game.  I believe setting a higher price and entertaining offers gets me more action than just listing a set price, though the results will usually be the same final price.

To turn filter on, go to "Shop Settings" on your upper right pull down list. When you are there, click the "Policies" tab on menu, then scroll to the bottom. Switch the filter on for "Lowball offer policy- Automatically Decline offers below 64% of asking price"

I like Bill's guidelines. The asking price is just an invitation to dance. Question is, who leads?

I definitely set it higher than my "best price" but I do want to move this pedal - looking at a boutique bass distortion.
