Best to use the short-scale set, even with the longer after-length?
Long story short, I tried to wind a long-scale set onto a Starfire the other night, and managed to break the E-string right at the tuner.

I think because;
A.) it was a used string, and;
B.) the winding/silk terminated right at the post.
I really want to try some Pyramids on this Starfire... they were okay on my Distillate, but (sigh) TI Jazz Flats sound so much better and play so much easier. Something tells me they'll be perfect for this particular bass though.
