Grateful Dead Tapes
« on: January 09, 2017, 04:21:37 PM »
So...I've recently gotten back into the wonderful world of analog music. I'm currently in the process of reaquiring the vinyl of my youth...75 albums and counting. Still have a LONG way to go.

A few weeks ago, I bought a mint condition Nakamichi 480. It's a great two head deck. I wanted to get a few dead show tapes and thought you guys might have a line on some. I'm looking for any of your favorite shows from 1978-1994. I could send you blank tapes if you could make copies for me.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Download Flac files preferably the 24 bit stuff the pump it all thru a bunch of tubes!!! Way better than analog generational loss issues.

I was a taper in the late 70s and 80s (I still have my D5!).  Email me your address and I would be happy to make you some copies and send them to you.

I'd be happy to send you some, well, actually most, of my cassettes. I rarely listen to them anymore, having moved on to the digital world. However, I do have two Nak decks in my home studio and I have a master cassette of set two 5/12/80 at the Boston Garden, which has some great moments. It was the only recording made front of board and doesn't circulate, as far as I know. I won't give that one up, but I'm happy to make you a copy! It was a fun show to attend.

If I could only find that one that I lost with the amazing bird song ca. 1972-3. Horrible sound quality and transcendent playing. Never did figure out the date.

Edwin,

I would love copies of those Boston Garden concerts and a few of your other favorites as well. I'm especially looking for the Alpine Valley show from July 1989 because it has my favorite version of Morning Dew. If you email me your address I'll send you some blank tapes. Rob has been kind enough to help me in my quest as well.

Thank you so much.

I love concert tapes!!

I used to have one from Houston in the mid-'80s where, at the end, you could someone yelling "Nobody leave and they'll have to come back!  Nobody leave and they'll have to come back!"  I loved it, as that was my buddy Tex (who taught me my first chords and a box scale, as well as how to make chili, and who yelled same at the end of every show).

Edwin, if you happen to have Alpine Valley 8/8/82 (Zakir Husain & John Cippolina sitting in, me sitting in the grass), my CD died & deadlists.com won't let you download it anymore.

Have you tried Archive.org? I never even know about that show, I'll have to check it out!

Thanks, Edwin; I didn't know archive.org.  Alas, they have 8/7, but not 8/8.  Last I checked you could still stream it on deadlists; guess I'll to limit that one to at-home enjoyment.
