...Edward- we cover a lot of Garcia/Grissman, John Hartford, Chris Thile, some Flatt and Scruggs, Gillian Welch, Bill Monroe, Bryan Sutton, and even some Phish. We're a banjo/guitar, mandolin/guitar, bass trio with harmonies under the name Walnut Creek String Band. We've been in this configuration only since Fall 2016 and before had + lead and rhythm guitar and djembe, - banjo for 4 years previous under the name Franklin's Tower.
Sounds a lot like what I'm into these days.
I sub with a kinda' newgrassy bunch called the Harwell Grice Band. They do a few 'Dead tunes, several by The Band, pretty much anything goes from Psycho Killer all the way back to Flatt & Scruggs/Monroe, just depending on who or what they're playing for. My main gig (I guess you'd call it) New River Bound is really an oldtyme band adjusted for inflation. A good amount of originals mixed in with 200 year-old fiddle music. I'm getting away with playing a 5-string fretless bass guitar, here in the cradle of Appalachia, so... take from that what you will.
