1987 Spoiler trim pots

Alembic club,
I don't ever adjust the pickup trim pots, however, I tried adjusting both pots to a different setting and lost the signal. I kept adjusting them back and forth, and problem went away. Is this normal, or is it time for new trim pots?

Guessing it was probably a result of the trim pots having sat at the same setting for nigh on 30 years. Also guessing you already found the suggestion how to fix this type of problem with the volume/filter/tone pots, and I'm not surprised it works for the trimpots too.
As you're not likely to adjust the trim pots quite so often, it's not likely that you should run into a problem there.
While you're at it, have you tried adjusting the pickup height too? The dual trimpots are there so you can balance out any volume difference that might come with a tonal difference that you might prefer.
If you haven't already, do read Joey's Post on Setting Up Your Bass

Thanks Adriaan,
I did adjust pickup height and trim pots, working on a certain balance between neck pickup & bridge pickup with both pickups on. Thanks for the quick response! I'll check out Joey's post.
