Isn't it great when your fiancee buys you one of these for your 40th birthday (even if it is three months early - not that I'm complaining)?

All chrome hardware, except the D-tuner which is gold.  Side LEDs are blue.

What an astonishing instrument!

Roger ...mmmmmm ...very nice Status.  I heard very good things about playability and sound of the Status basses. Still love the S2 Classic but WITH the headstock.
Nice catch.

Paul the bad one

PS: ...euh ...can I lend your fiancee for some months ...I'll turn to 50 in june.

Roger your a lucky guy !!  what an excellent birthday present,  was it a total surprise ?

if it was.........I'd be speechless getting such a gift.

I had plans to get one with gold hardware, blue graphite tint and blue LED's, I also had my eye on the Mark King Artist, not really a fan of headless basses, but the bend well is an interesting idea, I'd give it a try. I spoke with Rob, great guy, very helpful..........there may be a Status or 2 for me in the future.

good luck with your most excellent present.

As always, thanks for your kind comments folks!

Paul - the playability and sounds it's capable of left me breathless. That headstock takes some getting used to though!!!!

Beelee - No, it wasn't a total surprise - her offering to buy me one was the real surprise!

I originally wanted one with a blue tint and gold LEDs, but as my fiancee had offered to buy it for my birthday, I felt she had to right speak up regarding the specification. I have to say that I'm pleased I listened, it looks very modern in graphite and chrome I think.

That's really cool Roger.  It looks like it's about to jump to life and attack!  More like a bird of prey than a Bass.  It reminds me of the Dragon Wing.  Do you have a preference?

I suppose that receiving something like that as a gift from someone you love makes it that much more special.

Congratulations and happy birthday Roger!  You're a very lucky guy in many ways.

Cheers,

Rami

Congratulations Roger...that's a beautiful instrument.  You have a great fiancee there, as well.

My 40th birthday was last month, and when my wife asked what I wanted and I mentioned a bass, she began laughing hysterically before I could even get into specifics.  Oh well, I'll just have to keep saving my pennies.

My 50th is coming up in a couple of months and I'm hoping the wife will let me buy new strings and a couple of 9-volt batteries.
Bill, true love is grand.  It just doesn't give me the nod for a new bass EVERY year.  I have gotten 3 in the last 4 years, so I don't have any complaints.

For the record, for my 50th, last december, my wife bought me a really really nice Fender American Jazz Bass. I have been wanting one for a few years. Guess I longed for it since I sold my '62 !!! (D'OOOh)

Rog,
many congrats to this beauty. I am jealous. But as you know I do own a Buzz 2 so I am on my way to the Buzz 1.
I think you are as satisfied with your Buzz 1 as I am with my Buzz 2.

Well, I'd have to say that we're generally not the youngest of WWW groups!  50/50 whether or not the bass I recently ordered will be ready for my 40th.
