I think you made the smart play on getting her fixed. I just sent my old 1980 Zebrawood Series back to get the upgrade. It's not cheap or quick, but worth the price and wait. It's not very reassuring when you bring your Alembic to the local repair shop and the tech falls to the floor, and goes into the fetal position, good luck.
