hey, how about ownership of five years or more of owning an alembic instrument, and you would qualify (of course proof of purchace)for a pinky? because after 25 yrs of owning #12 i feel i should at least be wearing a life long momento that puts me in the alembic hall of fame.but ofcourse we would have to purchace these items our selves ........any thoughts any one?

You really need to be in the Alembic hall of fame. That is a long time. I have owned Alembics since 1978 or so, but not the same one!

I too have a 1972, but I have only had it about 18 years.

What a cool idea! I would not be eligible yet, but would definitely purchase a ring something else commemorative with the Alembic logo once I reached that status. What other instrument manufacturer could point to that kind of loyalty? Other than Harley, where people tatoo the logo on themselves? Dates an instrument was registered by the individual with Alembic could serve as the time verification.

What do others think?

the ring idea is neat, I've owned my Series 1 for 28 years and I would wear a ring .tatoo's are illeagal in the state of Oklahoma.

I didn't mean to imply that someone would already have gone the Alembic tatoo route. Actually, I didn't consider it at all. Let's just say that, although I value and respect my friends and coworkers who have partaken in tatoo's, piercing and other forms of body decoration and renovation...I think I'd stick with a ring!!!

Bill,I know you were not implying, I just think it's funny that Oklahoma is one of only 2 states that tatooing is illeagal. and congratulations on becoming an advanced member, and I still want a ring, just not a tatoo

Tatooing illegal? Presumably you are allowed to wear tatoos that were done in other states? Is there an underground tatoo scene?

Years ago we offered the logo as a necklace. Later, too many of those found their way on to non-Alembics, so we stopped the practice. I'm sure if I asked the jeweler who casts our logos, he could come up with some really interesting stuff. I'm expecting to see him any day with Rami's logo, so I'll ask him then.

I guess the problem with the necklace logos was hard to see coming. Too bad. It sounds like a few of us would be interested in seeing what kind of ideas your jeweler has.

ok forget the five year ownership thing, how about just being able to buy a sterling silver (superbowl style) ring ,with guitar modle (of course the logo on the top)inscribed on the side, or whatever you would like to have alembic put on it,....afterall alembic is like burgerking you can have it your way.!!

Well ...it took me some work to scan but spoken about Alembic Jewelry:
I actually own (for 10 years now) a necklace logo that I only take off to sleep. I bought it from EVH. As you can see the logo is broken. Once when I'll be grown up and rich I'll try to find one to fix it.
You also see an Alembic pin that I normally wear when in formal suit. It's really fun to see those serious people bend over to my revers and look puzzled. When asked :what it is, I always answer in terms of the logo-description (see main page). And end that I'[m a member of and Alchemystry club.
LOL.

PS2: the other things on the necklace are CEN (the old rune symbol for creativity and consistency) and -of course- The Twins (well ...there are aboiut 6 Pauls in me ...you know that)

If the main thing to avoid is having the logo-jewelry appear on a spurious instrument, I wonder if it could be cast in such a way that it would be impossible to do so.

Perhaps the pendant logo could be solid (rather than open) with the back being convex, such that nobody would take the time to file it down properly to mount it on an instrument.

Or mold it into a glass sphere. Hmm, that would be interesting. Can't they do laser etching inside glass now?

It would have to be something classy. I do like the ring idea. I'm not really a practicing Christian but I have a James Avery Craftsman Alpha/Omega ring:

This type of idea would be perfect for a ring. Instrument name on the side may be too much customization but a plain mount like this could certainly be engraved at a store near the buyer... (serial number inside the band?)
