My absolute favorite strings of all time were the nickel roundwounds Alembic used to sell in .45-130 (128?) Does anybody know where I can find a few sets of these, or something just like them?

Thanks, Dave.
Yes I have tried them.  I don't like them as much as the nickels, but that was on my SB-2.  I haven't tried them on the Modulus yet.  I have been using the DR nickel compression wound, Lo Riders, I think, and they're pretty good.  I still haven't found anything that matches the Beef and Clarity of those NK-2's for me.  At least I don't have to cut any silk off the B string to let it sit in the nut on the 35 scale like I did with the NK-2's.  Is the CX-3's B-string long enough for 35 without silk surgery?

Yes. is the quick answer. My 34 rogue has about an inch and a half form behind the nut to the tuning peg and it has unsilked string on the winding. see this...

In the past I have used DR but I now use Curt Mangan strings. They make Nickel, Phosphor Bronze and Stainless Steel. I use Nickel in a medium/heavy gauge. I am very happy with the tone and lasting ability. It is also very easy to become a sponsored artist and buy at a much lower cost than retail. Shipping is included on orders over $20. Website is www.curtmangan.com.
